Paula Brothers Paula B. Brothers – Following her career in Human Resources at Ernst & Young in Cleveland, Ohio, Paula has served on many high profile boards in Columbus, Ohio including the Columbus Museum of Art, Columbus Symphony Orchestra, and American Cancer Society. Her efforts have garnered numerous community service awards. She also served on the board of Inniswood Metro Gardens in Columbus as well as The Wilds, a large zoological facility in Ohio implementing education and research programs that emphasize protection and management. She enjoys photography, travel, sports, and nature.

Gail Garratt – In addition to the Naples Zoo Board, Gail sits/sat on the boards of Brookfield Zoo, Alzheimers National Association, American Heart Association, English Speaking Union, and The Christ Child Society of Naples.

Stephen Hruby

Stephen J. Hruby – Stephen is a founding principal of Architects Unlimited, a 30 year old architectural, urban design and town planning firm, and President of that firm’s affiliate, AU Consulting which specializes in housing and development consulting.

Stephen is a nationally recognized specialist in housing with a particular emphasis on affordable housing, mixed income communities and community revitalization.  He has extensive experience with the public administration of large community revitalization programs and funding grants which he has gained through more than 30 years of experience in master planning, mixed finance funding, program management, strategic capital planning and administration, zoning, and land use.

Stephen has served as Director of Capital Improvements and Development for the housing agencies of Memphis, TN and Camden, NJ under privatization contracts AU had with those cities.  He was a member of a U. S. Housing and Urban Redevelopment (HUD) Target Team established to improve the troubled housing agency in New Orleans, LA.  Stephen was in charge of developing the overall capital investment, community revitalization and affordable housing development strategies for the city’s housing agency to achieve HUD’s goal of improve housing conditions in the city.

Dr. Susan Liberski M.S.
Board Secretary
– Susan is a graduate of the Medical College of Pennsylvania and has been a practicing gastroenterologist in Naples since 1994. She’s been a member of the medical staff of the NCH Healthcare System, has served on numerous committees and has been Chair of the Section of Gastroenterology. She has been a volunteer with the Neighborhood Health Clinic of Naples since its inception, has helped coordinate the Women’s Health Symposium of Collier County for over ten years and has been active with the Collier County Chapter of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. She has also been involved with fundraising for other organizations.  Prior to her arrival in Naples, Susan was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Penn State University and had spent time as a volunteer physician in Kenya. She’s had a lifelong passion for protecting animals and the environment.

Ross McIntosh

MATT-MCLEAN Matthew D. McLean
Board Chairman
– After earning degrees in Environmental Science from Rollins College and Civil Engineering from the University of Florida, Matt returned to Naples where he currently is the Principal Engineer for McLean Engineering which provides civil engineering land development services in Southwest Florida. His expertise of construction management and engineering design includes site development of underground infrastructure for commercial, single-family, golf course and multi-family development. Matt enjoys spending time on the water fishing with his family. This passion turned into years of serving as Chair of the Gene Doyle Memorial Foundation Fishing Tournament.

Board Treasurer

Jutta Parsons – After retiring from a decade-long association as a senior management consultant and executive coach in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with The Executive Committee (TEC-Midwest), an affiliate of VISTAGE, an international membership organization of presidents and CEOs, Jutta Parsons and her husband David made Naples their permanent home in 2002. In the Milwaukee area, Ms. Parsons was deeply involved in community activities such as the executive committees of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, and the Milwaukee Ballet Foundation. She also was President of Wisconsin Citizens for the Arts, belonged to Professional Dimensions, a Milwaukee professional women’s organization, and assisted with a number of other civic and business projects.

In Naples, Ms. Parsons is a member of Class XI of the Naples Greater Leadership Master Program and the Naples World Affairs Council, and she has served as a treasurer of the Naples Wellesley Club. The Parsons’ family has had a long standing interest in promoting children’s health through medical research in Washington, D.C. This is also a personal commitment for Jutta Parsons in her capacity as Secretary-Treasurer of the Board of The Children’s Research Institute of The Children’s National Medical Center in DC. Ms. Parsons enjoys travel, tennis, oil painting, reading and being a grandmother.

David Pfaff

David N. Pfaff
Vice Chairman
– David came to Naples in 1956 to be news director of its first radio station. In the 1960s, he was Executive Vice President of the Naples Chamber of Commerce which led to a close involvement with Caribbean Gardens during the Fleischmann era. For 30 years starting in the 1970s, he wrote and published a Naples and Collier County business newsletter. He spent nearly 20 years in banking in Naples. He has been involved with many organizations, including as a founder of the Environmental Advisory Council to the Board of County Commissioners, the Economic Development Council and the United Way. He has been particularly involved with local and state mental health organizations and educational institutions including the University of South Florida and Hodges University. He enjoys travel, the arts and reading.


John Sorey – John is the owner and president of Management Support Systems, Inc., established to assist companies and nonprofits with their strategic planning, market analysis, acquisitions, investments, incentive compensation, fund raising and management development.  He has an MBA from the University of Tennessee and completed an executive course at the Harvard Business School.  He has been a member of various publicly traded and private company Boards.  He brings an extensive knowledge and experience of how Boards can contribute to the success of nonprofit entities.

In addition, he contributes considerable time and effort to the community.  He currently serves as Mayor of the City of Naples, Vice Chair of the Big Cypress Basin Board, Chair of the Coastal Advisory Committee, Secretary of Audubon of Florida, Vice Chair of the Harvard Club of Naples, a member of the Tourist Development Council, a member of the Board of the Naples Players, the Community Foundation, Friends of the Library, and is a Master Gardener.  In the past, he has served as a member of the Naples City Council, President of the Board of the Naples Players, Chairman of the University of Tennessee Development Council, and Chairman of the City of Naples Planning Advisory Board.  He has received the Development Council Service Award and Stars in the Arts Award.


Eric Thom Eric Thom – Following a degree in mathematics from Ohio University in Athens and various post-graduate courses and professional seminars, Eric worked as a systems engineer for IBM followed by a long career at AT&T from Data Systems and Finance through International Human Resources. He has also worked as a senior manager at Ernst & Young where he consulted for Fortune 500 corporations on international programs. His expertise has been tapped by The Wall Street Journal and for symposia and conferences from Washington and New York to London. Today, Eric serves as 1st Vice President of the Island Walk Homeowners Association. He also has the following affiliations: Conservancy of SW Florida, National Audubon Society, Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ), Major Donor of Winn Feline Foundation, Patron of Emergency Pet Hospital of Collier County.
